Peter named this book on the Vasper episode. The Body Electric. Robert O. Becker and Gary Selden. 1985.

I went and read it. Orthopedic surgeon. VA hospital. Syracuse. He spent years on salamanders and frogs and broken bone.

Here is the useful part. A wound has a current. He called it the current of injury. A salamander flips that current and grows the limb back. A frog does not. He thought the polarity was the difference, not a pep talk.

He also said bone makes a small current when you load it. Use the bone, the bone answers. That is old news to anyone who has walked 36 holes and felt it the next morning. Wolff’s law with a meter on it.

The rest of the book gets louder. Power lines. Fields. Committees. Industry. Some of that is a man fighting a room. Fine. I drive at night with a phone in the car and supervised FSD on the highway. I am not throwing the keys in the river because a 1985 chapter got hot.

I sit on Vasper three times a week. Compression. Cooling. Intervals. Peter talks about brass plates and grounding and cites Becker. That is a founder pointing at a book. It is not a lab I ran.

What I keep: the body is not only chemistry. Healing has a direction. Load matters. Rest matters. I do not need a salamander to tell me the scoreboard. Sleep. Joints. The morning after.

If the night is clean, the week worked. If it is not, I look at the week, not a chapter on electropollution.

Becker first. Then the protocol. Then the night.

Feb 11, 2025. Centered Presents: The Future of Health. Dr. Molly Brown and Christina Walecka. Forty-three minutes with Peter Wasowski, the man who built Vasper.

Peter Wasowski, from the episode

The title is a pitch. Boost testosterone. Recover in 21 minutes. That is how a wellness show names an episode. I already know the machine. I wanted the origin, not another ad.

A session on the Vasper system. Compression cuffs, cooling vest, recumbent trainer.

He starts with how he got to it. Then the stack. Compression. Cooling. Intervals. A little resistance. Twenty-one minutes. He says that mix is the workout. Different ages. Different fitness. Then stories. Then hormones and mood. Then the bigger talk: do the work in the body first, keep the pharmacy off the table when you can, get engineers and doctors in the same room.

That is the episode. Founder interview on a clinic podcast. They are in the future-of-health business. Fine.

Here is my review. The useful part is the protocol, not the title. Twenty-one minutes. Three times a week. Low impact. Joints stay quiet. My scoreboard is still the night after. Sleep. Cortisol. How I feel in the morning. A podcast does not change that.

I sit on the thing. I buy the low-impact part. I do not need a founder to sell me a number I did not test. If the night is clean, the session worked.

If you already do Vasper, this is the man talking. If you do not, this is the sales cut. Either way, do the session. Leave. Check the night.

FSD to Gamble Sands. Supervised the whole way. I watched the wheel. The car took the boring miles. I showed up with legs.

FSD on the road out of Gamble Sands. Supervised. I watched the wheel.

Thirty-six holes. That is the trip. Walk, hit, walk. No late dinner that turns into a late night.

Protect the sleep. The scoreboard is the next morning, not the last hole. Drive home in the dark if the day runs long. Night road. Eyes up.

Golf is the point. The car is how I get there without spending the day on the drive.

The good FSD miles are the ones you forget.

Night highway. Lane held. Speed held. I still watch the wheel. Hands ready. Eyes up. Supervised, not unmanned.

That is the deal. The car can take the boring stretch. I stay in the loop. I show up usable. Not fried. Not gripping the wheel for three hours of I-75.

I use it for that. Detroit to a tee time. Detroit home after dark. The point is not the demo. The point is arriving with something left.

If I have to take over, I take over. No debate. The wheel is still mine.
